I couldn’t find my apple spice candle so I got creative. I dug around in my spice cabinet and found just what I needed to make the whole house smell like spiced apple!
Apple Spice Simmer
- Put apple peelings and core in a small sauce pan (I gave the actual apple slices to Victoria as not to waste anything)
- Add cinnamon and cloves ( I used whole cloves but any kind is fine and sorry no measurements just a couple of dashes)
- Cover with Water
- Bring to a Boil and then turn down to the lowest setting and let simmer. If you notice the water getting low during the day, simply add a little more.
Other options:
This simmer is so forgiving. You can totally use what you have on hand. Don’t have cloves? No problem. Just use cinnamon. I didn’t have any oranges on hand but if I did I would have thrown in some orange peelings as well.
This made the entire house smell just yummy and even better than my candle. Plus I typically can’t burn my candles long because of our allergies. However, this simmer did not bother anybody. And did I mention I saved a ton of money from not having to buy a new candle and used all ingredients I had on hand! Even better.
